About Us

  Dorothy (Dori) M. Wolfe, P.E.

Dori founded Wolfe Energy to share her extensive knowledge and passion for energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. Since 2012, she has been actively working to bring community solar projects to fruition. In 2015, Wolfe brought on-line the 110 kW-DC community solar array benefiting five local non-profits in Strafford VT. Then in 2017 in Strafford, VT Wolfe co-developed a 7 MW array. It is the largest superfund solar project in the northeast. In the fall of 2018 Wolfe brought on-line the first "hybrid" community solar array in Thetford, VT - fully owned by the shareholders while benefit the town as well.

Prior to starting Wolfe Energy in 2011, she co-founded groSolar, a national renewable energy company. She managed nearly all aspects of the Company at different times since its inception in 1998.  During her twelve year tenure, continuing through to the present, Dori consults with clients about how to live using less energy, including house orientation and construction, appliances and lighting, and the generation of renewable energy, both electric and thermal. She sat on the Governor’s Council for Energy and the Environment for six years. She has dedicated substantial volunteer time to educating students and communities in sustainable practices including developing an elementary school energy curriculum, serving over ten years on the town energy committee, and lecturing on renewable energy in various colleges.

Practicing what she teaches, she has lived in a passive solar home with her extended family where they net metered to zero with both wind and photovoltaics, generated hot water from the sun, kept chickens, and practiced permaculture. Her current home in Houston is near net-zero, including two all electric vehicles and her favorite cordless electric lawn mower. Prior to forming groSolar, Dori was a Senior Engineer at Bard, Rao + Athanas Consulting Engineers.  She has been Engineer-in-Charge of over 750,000 square feet of building design projects.  Dori has a BSME degree from Cornell University.
